Good morning, Golightlies! Did I mention Paris was cold? As in freezing? While I spent 99% of my time in the same coat, sweater and pair of blue jeans (God bless stretch, because after downing more pain au chocolat than should be legal, that’s all that fit), I couldn’t resist a tryst with my new LBD from the Penny Chic by Shauna Miller Little Black Dress Collection, where each LBD is only $20 (amazing, right?).
I’m so happy to call Shauna a friend and if I didn’t love her so much I would hate her (purely out of envy, of course) for coming up with the most genius idea ever: a collection of little black dresses that cost a mere $20 each. Brilliant, right? Why didn’t I think of that?
Every girl knows the power of a little black dress. Dress it up, dress it down, it’s always the go-to dress you reach for. So, Shauna, the queen of cheap-chic and blogger behind Penny Chic, created a LBD for every body type.
I’m wearing The Utility, which can be styled with a classic pump or bright tights and Isabel Marant-inspired booties for Parisian flare, but plan on scooping up The Skater and The Classic, too. I think Audrey would approve, don’t you?
How easy would life be if we had a LBD for each day of the week? A blank canvas of infinite possibilities? Even better, the dresses are manufactured in the U.S.A., are machine-washable and wrinkle-free (I feel like this would totally get my mom’s stamp of approval too! Am I right, Mama Golightly?).
Do you remember The Uniform Project, where Sheena wore the same LBD for 365 days? If not, check it out for a zillion ideas on different ways to style an LBD.
I’ve learned the same lesson a few times in life that less is more: once in college when I came home for a summer with one suitcase of clothing. My slimmed-down closet made every day so much simpler. And then again, when Fred Baby and I took a year off after living in San Francisco to globe-trot. Living out of carry-on luggage really is incredible. Fewer options = more head space and more time.
And really, in the end, don’t we just end up wearing the same 5-10 things over and over again? (Or is that just me?) I have one LBD that I bought five years ago and have literally worn over and over again on multiple continents in multiple climates. It’s comfortable, always looks good and only set me back $40 from the juniors department of Macy’s (or was it Nordstrom?). Proving once again that style and price are mutually exclusive.
Check out Penny Chic for ideas and info on the LBD Collection and shop the dress collection on walmart.com.
