Rosetta Mexico City: Jungalow vibes in this restaurant in Mexico City.

While last week nearly killed me, the finish line is in sight! Of course, that doesn’t mean there haven’t been hiccups along the way as we prepare to shoot the room THIS Saturday. Sharing what those hiccups are, plus the the art + accessories we have planned for the room. If you like drama + beautiful photos, read on…

Grey Marble Dining Table

But first an update on TableGate: Kristen ended up ordering this marble dining table and it should — fingers crossed — be arriving by Friday.

I like that the grey base will actually play off of the grey door. It’s a fire door and we were unable to paint it, so it was a happy coincidence that they are simpatico. Also, take note of the pipes and such going on in the ceilings because…

Plant Chandelier

I’d love if we could hang some greenery from them like in this photo and the top photo, both from a restaurant named Rosetta in Mexico City. Kristen has made a plant-a-lier (plant + chandelier) in the past so I’m confident we can do something cool…time permitting!

Mexico City Design

I also love this photo of Overeasy Orchard in Singapore as well.

Modern Planters

That rusty hue on the seatings appealed to me as an accent to the cool lavenders, emeralds and blues we have going on in the room so much that I ended up ordering this plant stand. It will be great for filling up a corner.

Wanna see what else we’ll be playing with?

Pink Art & Accessories

These fun pieces!

The space calls for a wild mix of jungalow vibes and luxury with a nod to the space’s downtown roots. So here’s what we’ve got going on:

  1. Bright Bougainvillea print — To play up the junglaow vibes and add an organic element + a pop of pink, this print from Minted was a must. The artist is The One With Wanderlust.

  2. Shade Squad print — Love the colors, vibe + leopard in this art by Bouffants and Broken Hearts.

  3. Neon Carpe Diem print — These are the Carpe Creative offices, so this Carpe Diem print by AK Graphics from Minted had to happen. Love the neon, as it’s a fun nod to downtown LA too.

  4. Fauna Blush pillowsKristen also wanted leopard print of some sort, so when I spotted (pun intended) these spotted pillows from SWD Studio, I snatched them up. I love how they play off of the leopard print in the Shade Squad print too.

  5. Layers of Green print — Another piece from Minted I couldn’t resist for its jungalow spirit. This piece is by Bethania Lima.

  6. Girls Girls Girls neon sign — Again, I love the nod to downtown with the neon sign, but this is an office space where a lot of girlboss/lady boss/BOSS energy comes together to make magic, so I couldn’t resist this cheeky sign. Who run the world? Girls! Girls! Girls!

  7. Open Crazy Late print — Anyone who is an entrepreneur knows that work doesn’t end at 5pm. The sign called to me, and even better that it’s in pink lipstick font. All of the frames are gold and copper to play up the glamour factor. This art is by Paper Raven Co. from Minted.

A few more pieces..

Modern Pink Accessories

  1. Jill Rosenwald bowl — I love the swirly pattern! Will be fun to fill with fruit, flowers or something unexpected. Any ideas? Candy cigarettes perhaps?

  2. HomePop pink velvet ottoman – I nabbed a few of these to sprinkle as either a makeshift coffee table or to fill corners of the room.

  3. HomePop navy bench — Again, a possible coffee table moment or as additional seating.

  4. Now House by Jonathan Adler decanter — Who doesn’t need this modern-day I Dream of Jeanie bottle?

  5. HomePop pink velvet bench — I couldn’t decide between the pink bench or navy bench, so got both. Stay tuned to see where they end up…

I’ll have more to accessorize with but will keep those a secret…for now!

MORE DRAMA

We have to shoot the finished space THIS Saturday, as we need to have photos to Better Homes & Gardens on Sunday at the latest.

But I literally just found out that our beautiful drapes that were supposed to arrive on Friday won’t be arriving until Monday. Eeee!!!!

As you know, we’ll be sharing our final rooms with YOU exactly one week from today, so there might be time to shoot them, just not at the same time we shoot everything else.

We can only shoot this Saturday (san drapes), and then our beloved photographer Fred Baby jets off to New York through Thursday. Which means we’ll have to get another photographer to come in on Tuesday to get some pick-up shots that include the drapes. That is, if we can get the drapes installed in time.

But we’ll make it werrrrk!

And whether it’s by next week or a bit after, we’ll get to see the fully finished room.

What do you think?

Are you excited to see the final room come together? I, for one, can’t wait!

And I can’t wait to see all of my fellow designers’ rooms too! It always feels like Christmas morning, where you gets loads of eye candy all at one time.

Until then, check in + see how their rooms are shaping up:
