Marigold, mustard, ochre, turmeric, whatever you call it, prepare to behold this perfectly pungent hue for fall. Here’s my love/hate story with the new hue plus how to wear it (hint: leopard!).

TBH, my first reaction to this new-for-fall hue was eeew…I hate it!

In fact, I almost sent this dress back because I meant to order a true yellow version instead.

But I’ve learned anytime I have such a strong reaction to something, I’m going to do a complete 180 and love it a few months later.

Which is exactly what happened.

And as predicted, I’m now obsessed.

Does that ever happen to you?

Now I’m a total Marigolden Girl.

I also love how this color complements the golden tones of the desert going on right now.

I paired this dress with leopard-print shoes, ideal for the summer-into-fall transition.

These leopard shoes have a slight kitten heel and are under $90. Scoop ’em up while you still can!
WHAT I’M WEARING:
marigold dress (s/o but similar here + more below) | leopard shoes c/o | similar sunnies | flask bangle | swan bag c/o | gold wrap ring c/o | similar arrow cuff bracelet (that I bought in Lionel Richie’s living room — LA is weird!)
While my marigold dress has long since sold out, I’ve linked to some favorite marigold pieces below.

Warning: If you hate this hue now, you might just be like me and do a complete 180 by October. 🙂
p.s. I picked up this ochre cardigan too and am eyeing this marigold blouson sleeve sweater + this AMAZING MUSTARD FAUX FUR COAT!

I hear ya! Now I’m eyeing that marigold faux fur coat!!!
The color is really awesome on you…looks good with your skin tone!!!
Wow, thanks so much! It’s funny because I thought this color would be awful with my skin tone, but I guess it’s a good reminder to always try new things.
I agree–that’s a great color on you! I also think it’s important to try new colors every so often…when I was younger I refused to wear navy, because it made me look like I was dead. Now, 75% of my clothes are navy, and I think it looks great on me. I guess our skin/hair changes slightly over time?
That’s a great point. I wonder if it’s our coloring that really changes, or perhaps just our perception?
BTW: A large majority of my closet is navy too!
