Modernism Week kicks off today, which is bananas! How has a year gone by since our house was given the makeover of all makeovers as the Christopher Kennedy Compound: Modernism Week Show House? I’ve shared several rooms so far — our entryway designed by kate spade, our millennial pink guest suite designed by Sarah Sherman Samuel, our dream white kitchen designed by Kelli Ellis (the rest linked below!) and today I’m excited to share the Lemonade-themed pool bath designed by Salvador Camarena, which he dubbed The Bed, Bath and Beyoncé!
Sal took our pool bath from totally fine to totally dee-vine!
He first suggested banana-print wallpaper, and while I loved the idea of yellow, I told him I’d always dreamed of a room with lemon-print wallpaper.
Needless to say, he ran with the idea! As a celebrity red carpet stylist and pop culture aficionado, his mind instantly went to Beyonce’s Lemonade album.
Behold, The Bed, Bath and Beyoncé!
Along with the lemon wallpaper and She Who Must Be Obeyed sign, a Dial 9 to call Becky with the Good Hair cross-stitch hangs next to a vintage phone and an I Slay print.
The black-and-white chevron floors are a fun pop of pattern and go perfectly with the yellow lemon wallpaper and the navy vanity and gold accents. Also, how fun is that starburst mirror?!
The shower tile remained as what it had been before (it had just been redone and we liked it well enough), but the new shower head didn’t arrive in time for the show house. Instead of a freak out, Sal pulled off a chic out instead by filling the shower with yellow and white balloons.
Not only did it solve the problem, it added to the cheerful, playful vibe and I’m not ashamed to admit that I kept those balloons for many, many months after. They just made me so happy every time I saw them, just like this Pool Bath does — and just like Sal does.
Thank you Sal for creating what is one of my favorite rooms in Villa Golightly!
I’ve linked the sources below and you can see this room, along with our entire house, in the current issue of Traditional Home magazine!
