I’m so excited to share our dining room makeover with you today, designed by Christopher Kennedy in collaboration with The Mine! Formerly known as ATG Stores, the newly re-launched furniture and decor site The Mine carries SO many great lines at all price points and I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be partnering with The Mine throughout the year to bring you fun decorating tips and entertaining ideas. There was no better way to kick off our partnership than on The Christopher Kennedy Compound: Modernism Week Show House, presented by Traditional Home. Take a look at our dramatic dining room before and after…

Here’s a look at the before. Truly inspired, I know.
Beigeville was in major need of a jolt of color and personality…
Luckily, Christopher Kennedy has both in spades! As the mastermind of the entire Modernism Week Show House, he wanted to make a splash in the dining room. I’d say mission accomplished! Below are the details on everything in the room, including those amazing Kelly Wearstler for Visual Comfort sconces on the back wall there, through Ferguson. Talk about drama!
I’ll admit that when Christopher first presented his plans to us, we wavered on whether there was too much color and pattern. I know…me? Too much color? Luckily we just trusted Christopher do his thing because we LOVE how it all came together, from the big pieces like the buffet…
To the smaller pieces like the china and glasses, all from The Mine. Glamour! Color! Fun!
I love how this glossy white buffet is the perfect place to store extra plates and glassware, but also is ideal for displaying fun accessories on top.
How cute are these cactus statues! Doesn’t it look like they’re holding hands?
The side chairs are from The Mine (similar ones here), which Christopher had reupholstered in Jim Thompson Fabrics. The head chairs are Sunpan Modern, also reupholstered in Jim Thompson fabric. The bench under the window is from The Mine and it’s so glamorous. The drapes are Jim Thompson fabric (Broderique – Bonsai of the Vanities) through Kneedler-Fauchere. That splash of yellow makes me happy every time I see it.
Of course, wallpaper and paint made a huge difference. Wallpaper is Jim Thompson through Kneedler-Fauchere. I love the soft blue hue and that it’s a solid, since there’s so much color and pattern elsewhere. Makes for a lovely balance. The paint is Dunn Edwards Whisper white, the perfect white. That incredible chandelier is Fine Art Lamps through Ferguson. It’s a showstopper. Literally. Everyone who comes over asks about it.
The art is by Lillian August for Wendover Art Group, available through Christopher Kennedy.
The mirrored obelisks are from The Mine and I love how they add height. That incredible ram’s head dining table is vintage Chervet Ibex, available through Christopher Kennedy. Sadly that was just on loan for the showhouse, however you can get a similar look with this table. The rug is vintage from Antique Galleries of Palm Springs, but you can get a similar look here.
That amazing bar cabinet is from Selamat. I adore it. On top, the Grecian amphora is from The Mine. The bar stool is also from The Mine and is dee-vine! And how cute is that painting of Christopher’s dog Harley?
Changing the flooring to this gorgeous marble made all the difference in this room and throughout the house. It’s an investment to be sure, but one that has significant lasting impact. It’s Avalon Classic Polished Marble from Country Floors.
This is the Giselle Chair from Christopher Kennedy Signature Collection, covered in Jim Thompson fabric. The lamps are Barbara Cosgrove.
I love how everything came together!
How about you?
It’s something I could have never envisioned on my own, which is why it’s so fun to work with interior designers. They have such vision and access to resources you never would have thought of on your own. Thank you Christopher for creating this colorful, dynamic dream dining room! I promise we won’t eat dinner every night in front of the TV like animals anymore. 😉
And a huge thank you to The Mine for partnering on this post, as well as all of the other vendors who made this room a reality. You can shop items from The Mine to get the look below.
