I’ve been so caught up in the dazzling whirlwind of Poolside Reunion — the reunion photo of Poolside Gossip by Slim Aarons that Fred Baby and I shot and that was featured in The New York Times yesterday and then went viral (did you see it on Town & Country’s Instagram today?) — that I nearly forgot The Oscars are on Sunday. Quel beast!
If, like me, you are in need of a little inspiration, I hope you enjoy these last-minute Oscar party ideas below + seeing every Oscar dress ever worn.
Or, use top hats as popcorn buckets.
Rim the edges of champagne glasses with edible gold stars.
Make DIY bowtie pins as photo booth props or party favors.
Create a DIY star-studded photo booth backdrop.
Serve gourmet popcorn in paper cones.

Make gourmet movie nachos.

Whip up black-tie pretzel rods.

Star-struck champagne cocktails (recipes here)
Or, make fun star-shaped tea sandwiches.
Speaking of stars, you could use a star cookie cutter to make star-shaped honeydew melon ice cubes to gussy up your punch bowl like I did with these swan ice cubes.
Or, keep things simple with a cheese plate.
Or, set up an almond bar.
Have you ever met someone who doesn’t flip for pigs in a blanket?
For the gluten-free no-carb wheat-free guest on your list, make smoked salmon bites.
Of course, if there’s one thing I learned from the fabulous Nelda Linsk and Helen Dzo Dzo Kaptur — the two iconic, amazingly chic women in Poolside Gossip — it’s that you can never go wrong with simply ringing up a few friends and popping open a bottle of champagne.
Might as well make it sparkly!
So go on, invite your friends now, and order takeout on Sunday.
Just use festive and fancy paper plates to make it a little special.
And let every Oscar dress ever worn inspire your attire.

Have a fun and festive weekend!
