Happy September! While I’m not keen on shorter days, I am keen on the weather dropping below 100 degrees. So I welcome you with open arms, September! In that spirit, I’m wearing a new dress that’s perfect for those first days of fall and has me pondering the question: What’s your personal style?

This scalloped dress, which marries classic black and white with charming details like a scalloped hem and Peter Pan collar, makes me feel pulled together for those times I need to actually leave the house and caftans aren’t appropriate (i.e. meetings and events), but still has playful details that don’t feel too serious so I feel like myself.

After years of blogging and um, living, you really begin to hone in on your own personal style. And for me, the common thread is playful sophistication. Anything too stiff or serious is not my jam and I will wriggle around like a four-year-old in a suit. Likewise, something that’s all sweet or frilly often feels too saccharine or young. And something that’s super casual makes me feel like a frumpy bumpkin.

This strikes just the right balance.

Playful and sophisticated. They can go hand in hand!

Or foot and foot as the case may be with these oversized bow heels. So, if I had to sum up my personal style I’d say: Playful sophistication.
