I think the thing I loved most about Maui was being away.

Lately I find myself yearning for stillness, for life to slow down. I’ve never been much for the treadmill and I want to step off. After an anxiety-inducing 64 hours back in LA, most of it in front of a computer screen playing catch-up (What am I catching up to, I couldn’t help but wonder), we escaped last night to Palm Springs. It’s amazing the difference 120 miles of distance can make.

Being away from your normal routine, your commitments, your preconceived notions and expectations, deadlines, yourself is so freeing. And freedom truly is the ultimate luxury.

Speaking of feeling carefree, this dress. I ended up wearing it practically every day we were in Maui. It’s airy, easy, comfortable, takes up zero room in the suitcase, kept me cool in the humid tropical weather, and was worn both as a coverup at the beach and to dinner overlooking the sparkling Pacific.
