One of my favorite elements from our Flamingo Fiesta was pineapple lawn bowling. What’s that, you ask?
A good time, that’s what!
Bowling with real pineapples…and coconuts can’t be beat. Even if Miss Kris is giving me side eye!
Here’s how I came up with the idea:
Weeks before the party, I had been trying to come up with a fun game or “moment” if you will, something like the giant chess board at The Parker. But my mind was drawing a blank. I loved how Elephant Landing had painted these pineapples in pastels and was trying to let that fuel my imagination, but couldn’t come up with an original spin.
Fred Baby told me to chill out (I can go a little cray cray when party-planning) and that something would come to me in Maui, when I least expected it…and he was right! I’m sure the pina coladas I was imbibing didn’t hurt the creative process. Suddenly I had a vision for pineapple bowling!
Then I had to google it to see if it was a thing. I could only come across this image, although there is an inflatable pineapple bowling set you can buy. But real golden pineapples are way more fun, plus super easy and fun to DIY.
Plus, isn’t it so fun to lay amongst the pineapples like Brittany from L*Space is doing here? 😉

Here’s how to do it:
1. On a dropcloth in a well-ventilated area, spraypaint real pineapples with gold paint and let dry. Spray a coconut with silver spraypaint and let dry.
2. Use as the pins and bowling ball, and voila, pineapple bowling!
p.s. I just spotted a gold pineapple in London last week! Also, today is our last night in Rome and then we’re off to Capri, so I’ll be unplugging for a long weekend. I’m so excited I could burst (or maybe that’s just all the pizza I’ve been eating?). See you back here next week and in the meantime, I invite you to follow along on Instagram to see what Fred Baby & I are up to!
