Piña Colada Costume + Swan Pumpkin

Happy Monday! How was your Halloween weekend? We kicked off the Halloween festivities at Gray Malin’s annual pumpkin-carving party and then headed to Palm Springs. As usual, I had no costume planned up until about 5 o’clock on the day of Halloween and then, in a frantic state of regret, threw a lil something together at the last minute. Behold, my piña colada costume! I’m a big proponent of using what you have. That’s because I’m eco-friendly and wise. Okay, it’s really because I’m lazy and a major procrastinator. And what I had was this wig and these pineapple sunglasses. Since I also knew I had cocktail umbrellas and a few props, the lightbulb flashed and suddenly I felt the urge to be a piña colada! As one does. All it took was a white dress, an umbrella in my hair and a cute Oh Joy! cup (more colors here). Of course, my giant pineapple basket didn’t hurt to bring the idea to life in these photos.

As for decor, we did zilch in terms of decorating for Halloween (sorry neighbors!), but I had my pumpkin that Fred Baby and I had carved a swan into at Gray’s, and after seeing Salvador spruce up his pumpkin, I was inspired to as well.

A simple coat of white spraypaint and my lil pumpkin was all glammed up. I also filled the inside with gold rocks I had from last year’s Dazzling Holiday Tabletop shoot for Rue Magazine. (You can find the swan planter here.)
