mrslilien book party; trina turk

Last Thursday, on the night before we moved into this casa, I attended the effervescent Mrs. Lilien’s book soiree at the Trina Turk boutique in LA — with Mrs. Turk herself (who generously shared her secret spots in Palm Springs with me!).

Here’s what I wore, what we sipped and what I took home…

Where else can you wear bubblegum pink pants, a turquoise tank, ruby slippers and a cherry red blazer than if not at a Mrs. Lilien book party at Trina Turk, the mistress of mixing colors and prints (and the doyenne of Palm Springs!)?

Speaking of mix masters, here I am, along with my friend and shoe twin, the fabulous Mrs. Giagni, with the lady of the hour, the master mixologist and author of Mrs. Lilien’s Cocktail Swatchbook, Mrs. Lilien!

The book in question is actually a swatchbook of classic cocktails with a twist. It’s delightfully entertaining and graphically gorgeous — the perfect hostess or housewarming gift. Bottoms up!

Of course, I had to pick one up and have it signed by the Mrs. herself, who inscribed it with her on-the-spot witty and wise words of advice: “Kelly, Don’t go Lightly on the booze.”

As such, I couldn’t resist this perfect companion and swinging little housewarming present to myself: a Trina Turk deco ice bucket that proudly sits on my counter in Palm Springs.

A girl can’t subsist on Bermuda Bowls alone (or can she?!), so some serious sweets were in order.

And, if my bag had been bigger, I would have kidnapped one of these vintage cake plates as well…

Speaking of sweetie pies and things I’d like to steal, my adorable amiga and fellow sweets-lubber Mrs. Oh Joy was also in attendance wearing this darling dress and ban.do heart clutch that made my heart all aflutter. And, how delicious is Mrs. Fat Is My Favorite Flavor’s vintage frock? Her twin furry babies Margarita and Midas were sweet on me…but that may have been because I had icing on my fingertips. A sweet soiree indeed!

You can pick up a copy here of Mrs. Lilien’s Cocktail Swatchbook!

WHAT I WORE:

H&M blazer; GAP slim cropped pants; Kelly Wearstler tank (no longer available but similar here); Vintage Ferragamo shoes; GAP belt (not available online but similar here); Vintage earrings; Rougois watch (similar here and here); House of Harlow bracelet
