Chocolate ice cream cone with chocolate sprinkles, just like I used to get at Friendly’s in New Jersey when I was little. We’ve been making these at home with Haagen-Dazs (my fave) while watching the Olympics — or Dallas! (my other fave) — at night.
This week has been an interesting one. We’ve been house-hunting in Palm Springs (hooray!) and excitedly put in an offer on a house we love (and have actually rented and lived in before), but just found out that an investor outbid us (boo). But I truly believe in situations like this that it just wasn’t meant to be. Still, it’s a bit of a downer. So, to counteract what I know is a minor hiccup in the grand scheme, but feels kind of sad now, I’d love to share some of the sweeter, happier moments from my week. Some of my favorite bloggers use Friday to savor the happier highlights and it’s a tradition I love, so maybe we’ll make it a recurring theme.
Here, some of the sweet highlights from the week…
An invitation in the mail from LOFT + Giuliana Rancic to a great event. You know how I love G.
Our new West Elm Souk rug arrived early! I spotted it in Matchbook and ordered it on the spot. The funny thing is my style twin Helen ordered it at the same time and we Instagrammed it at the same time! Isn’t it cute in her guest room? We also have the same Parson’s desk.
Seeing my friend Joy on TV! Isn’t she adorable in her ban.do?
A box of See’s chocolates that Fred Baby brought home from Colorado.
This yummy snack that was waiting for me on a silver tray on our bed when I woke up from a nap. Fred Baby is the best — and knows the way to my heart (cheese and chocolate!).
We kicked off a new tradition last night: the sunset snack. First up, grapefruit margaritas and jalapeno poppers — which I’ve been making and eating for dinner practically every night this week. I’ll share the recipe next week!
I’d love to know: What were the sweet highlights of your week?
Happy weekend xx!

I LOVE that rug! Quick question: how does it feel under a bare foot? I’m looking for something extremely plush and luxurious feeling … I hate rugs that seem luxurious, but are actually really scratchy.
Hi Val! I love the way it feels underfoot. It does shed though, but we are still in the first few months of having it, and I hear that happens for the first 4-6 months. I can keep you posted, but definitely swing by a West Elm if you can to make sure you like the feel.
