Where to Stay in Cannes
Au revoir summer, hello fall! Just kidding, it’s summer year-round in GolightlyLand! And it doesn’t get more summery than Cannes, where the umbrellas are popped, the buildings are candy-colored and the sunshine is abundant. Here are a few highlights from our summer trip to Cannes, including where to stay in Cannes!
Cannes was bananas! And Le Grand Hotel Cannes was le grand indeed. In the heart of the Croisette (Cannes’ main artery, if you will), we were able to imbibe Cannes in all her glory right from our balcony.
I must admit, we’re not ones to normally visit places in peak season, typically preferring places when they are less crowded. And you don’t get more peak season than Cannes in August. But we ended up loving every single second of it.
That said, when we did feel like escaping the vibrant bustle, Le Grand had this wonderful oasis of green lawn – a rarity in Cannes – that was perfect for taking a break while still being close to the action.
The mid-century design of the boutique hotel had me feeling right at home, while dreaming of what life must have been like in the ‘60s.
Imagine Palm Springs meets Palm Beach but set seaside in France. Color, charm and glamour all intersected to create one eye-poppingly spectacular time. I did NOT want to leave.
And I already desperately can’t wait to return. The only other place I’ve ever felt that about is Palm Springs. Cannes is the French version of my Palm Springs dream.
The pace of life is just what I like.
A long, colorful breakfast followed by a dip in the Med to start the day off right.
Then, a bike ride around town to take in the groovy buildings and famous umbrellas, followed by a long lunch on the beach, a nap, and a late dinner on the beach.
Wait, why don’t we all live there?
Seriously, these people know how to live!
While we cannot move to Cannes quite yet, it was incredible to get a taste of it.
Thank you to Small Luxury Hotels for providing the perfect slice of heaven in which to dream.
