Brunch-bound.
Off to try out the new neighborhood bakery, Tarte Tatin, I found myself overdressed for this unexpectedly warm LA day. Tarte Tatin was beyond delicious.

Afternoon delight.
The bakery so nice, we went there twice (in one day). And the day’s not over!

Minkoff and muffins.
Open for just under two weeks, run don’t walk, my LA foodie friends. Set in an unassuming shopping center a mere block from my casa (pop in, won’t you?) you’ll feel like you’re in Europe (or the Middle East — either way, a richly foreign adventure). The banana-chocolate muffins are sublime, as is the egg sandwich with caramelized onions.

Creme brulee makes my day.
The owner, Kobi Tobiano, a former chef for Ron Howard and his family, treated us to almond water, a special Israeli treat (Tobiano moved to LA from Israel in 2002).

The short of it.
Have you ever had it? It is insanely good and apparently is served at Jewish holidays and celebrations.

Buh-nanas. Er, more like nuts, raisins and coconut.
The process to make the almond drink sounds quite laborious, so it was an extra special treat to try it. Tarte Tatin kicked it up a notch by adding orange blossom and rose water. Lovely, no?

Just for kicks.
