teri hatcher's red carpet yard sale for st. jude's sponsored by gilt city

My darlings, remember when I mentioned that you could buy tickets to attend Teri Hatcher’s Red Carpet Yard Sale? Well, I did and I got to meet Teri Hatcher herself! The Desperate Housewives star was incredibly kind. She even calmed the nerves of one shaking fan by offering to sign a DVD (no, that wasn’t K!). The Red Carpet Yard Sale featured items donated by celebrities, as well as overstock and backstock from some designers, with proceeds benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Gilt City sponsored the event and I scored a really cute American Retro polka dot dress and John Lennon sweater  from the lovely folks at Gilt for just $20 each (I couldn’t believe the prices!).

When I asked Teri (how LA of me to refer to her on a first-name basis) how long she had been hosting the event, she revealed that this was only the second year and that she held the first event at her house.  As she noted, that was probably not the best idea! This year, the Red Carpet Yard Sale was held at Tiato in Santa Monica, a restaurant with a small courtyard area in which the yard sale took place. She hinted that next year the Red Carpet Yard Sale might be held on Wisteria Lane (the fictional address that her Desperate Housewives character Susan calls home, which is on the Universal Studios lot). How fun would that be?!

As fun as it was meeting Susan Mayer Delfino Teri, it was far more fun meeting Susan Bloom! Who’s Susan Bloom, you ask? A big fan of kellygolightly it turns out! She and her friend were in front of K and I when we were waiting in line to get in to the event and she recognized us from kellygolightly. You can imagine my delight (and new-found paranoia: never leave the house without makeup again!). I couldn’t ask for a sweeter, more stylish kellygolightly supporter (check out that awesome graphic dress and those cool white shades). But not only is Susan stylish, she has an incredible job too, as the senior brand designer for Mattel. Yes, that means she gets to work on Barbie’s Dream House (literally). How amazeballs is that?! If you get a chance, you should definitely check out next year’s event, or any celebrity yard sale for that matter (it seems to be my new thing!). Thanks for letting me share and thanks Susan for making me feel like a celebrity for a day xx!
