I take the French approach to hair, which is a nice and fancy way of saying I’m lazy. I haven’t blow-dried my hair in a decade and I only started using a curling iron again a few months ago. I’m ultra low maintenance when it comes to my hair. Which is why it’s so important to find a hair stylist who listens, who truly understands the depths of your laziness, and who can make you look your best despite it. Enter Mika Fowler.
Don’t believe me? Look at my before picture to see just how bad things had gotten…
Zoinks!
Some people can pull off this undone lioness mane thing (ahem, Kelly Wearstler), while the rest of us look homeless (or is that just me?). My ‘do was bringing me down, in more ways than one. So I am beyond grateful that Mika, hair stylist to the stars, offered to fix me up with this cute and low-maintenance soft-textured bob.
I first heard of Mika last year when she gave a girl with long, flowing locks an Anne Hathaway Les Mis cut in less than 30 minutes on E!’s Oscars pre-show with Ross Mathews. Since, I’ve been lucky to sit in the celebrity hair stylist’s chair a few times and while her location appeals to my lazy side (at the Kim Vo Salon in The Montage Beverly Hills, which is stumbling distance from me), it’s really her skills and demeanor that make me love her so much.
Originally from Japan, Mika’s sweet, extremely talented and an absolute pleasure to spend an hour with. She always makes me feel good after and before. Of course it didn’t hurt that she was surprised when I told her I was married…because she thought I looked too young to be married. Come again? Flattery will get you everywhere with me.
Anyway, if you are in need of a new ‘do, I can’t sing Mika’s praises enough. Take a peek at her celebrity clients for further proof: Olivia Munn, Emma Roberts, Annalynne McCord, Malin Akerman, Rosario Dawson, Cameron Monaghan, Nina Dobrev and Emanuelle Chriqui to namedrop but a few. There’s a reason she’s known as one of LA’s top hair stylists.
