Before our island-hopping cruise through the Caribbean with Celebrity Cruises, I have to admit that while I was excited, a part of me was a tad anxious too. My fears?
1) Not being able to have privacy and 2) not being able to get good food.
Luckily my fears were totally unfounded. Behold, our rooftop picnic at sea!
Prior to our cruise, I thought I would be biding my time aboard the ship for when we could disembark and enjoy our island excursions. But in fact, one of my favorite experiences took place when we were at sea for a day: a rooftop picnic on the lawn (yes, real grass).
I love a picnic anytime, anywhere. There’s just nothing like dining al fresco. But how often can you have a sun-dappled picnic on the grassy rooftop of a ship as it sails through the Caribbean? Oh, and did I mention we were completely alone? Fred Baby and I were the only ones picnicking on the lawn!
When we reserved the picnic, the stylist in me was praying it might come with a cute plaid blanket and retro wicker basket – so I was over the moon when we arrived on the rooftop and saw that that was exactly what it was! #thesecret
Aesthetics aside, let’s talk food. The chef-prepared picnic was full of delectable goodies, and customized to take into account our pesky food allergies (no garlic and onions for me + no wheat for Fred Baby — total bummer, I know).
We sipped our crisp wine, nibbled away on charcuterie, scrumptious cheeses, and briny olives and considered playing bocce ball, but ultimately fell asleep in the sun…waking just as the sun began to dip into the ocean and it was time for dinner. #gluttons
Stay tuned, as I share more trip photos and favorite eats + experiences from our Caribbean cruise aboard Celebrity Reflection.
