Hey hey! What’s shakin’? I’m still on a high from all the fun last week with my Buggy visiting and then the best time ever at The Parker. I finally feel like myself again and that is a GOOD feeling! More on that below + a 40% off code on cute glitter bags!

First, a peek at the fun at the Sant and Abel event at The Parker. Last week was a week of many firsts in a long time. The first time I’d been anywhere without Fred Baby in over a year. Literally!
That probably sounds crazy (because it is) but when the you-know-what hit the fan a year or so ago, and I was basically Howard Hughes-ing it and not leaving the house, I’ve been a co-dependent nutjob it’s been a slow climb towards normal ever since. The biggest leaps of course were finally leaving the house and being in the world again, but Fred Baby has been by my side every step of the way.
Anxiety is a beast. Other than taking Odee on a walk once or twice in our neighborhood, and EmHen’s event in Beverly Hills a few months ago (he waited outside in the car with Odee), last week was the first time I’d been anywhere without him.
First, to downtown Palm Springs with my sister, her hubby and Kaylee — and Odee, of course. Then, the biggest thing was on Thursday. Sal picked me up and we went to a fun event at The Parker together and it felt like OLD TIMES. We were laughing about it because we’d both been hermits for a spell and this felt like the old us.
Have you ever had a similar experience?
Even better, I hadn’t eaten out in nearly two years. TWO YEARS. That is a long time.
Dealing with intense food allergies/intolerances and health issues, it’s always left me sick for weeks because of cross-contamination (if someone uses the same cutting board to slice lemons that bread was cut on, that’s enough to kick off an autoimmune attack and knock me out). So, when I asked at The Parker what brand the orange juice was and the lovely server replied, “No brand, it’s just freshly squeezed oranges,” I nearly did cartwheels. Yes, over orange juice!
So imagine my reaction when I saw frosé made in front of me and all the ingredients were ones I could have. BACKFLIPS! I haven’t felt so JOYFUL in ages. After the event, Sal and I enjoyed rosé as the sun shined on us and it was pure bliss.
It’s really the little things, isn’t it?
On Friday, we took Odee to her first bar with her Uncle Sal and Uncle Ross to play trivia and then went to dinner after. I fully just planned to have a drink since I don’t eat food that we don’t prepare. But by some stroke of luck, our waiter had a niece who has Celiac so totally got the whole cross-contamination thing. So I ATE OUT. At a RESTAURANT. For the first time in TWO YEARS. Pardon my shouting but this was huge! Sure, it was only a spear of naked romaine lettuce and a wedge of watermelon, but I was on cloud nine.
I’m seeing everything through rose-colored glasses again. Quite literally, as these heart-shaped sunglasses have pink frames. They’re a steal here, as was this cheeseburger bag. The burger sold out, but this ice cream sandwich glitter bag is adorable and there’s an avocado, a taco and more cute glitter bags below.
Plus, get 30% off + an extra 10% off glitter bags + more with code 23HOURS at J.Crew right now!
Oh, and not to worry, this burger is gluten-free. 😉
