A Date With Downtown LA

Have you ever strolled around downtown Los Angeles? Don’t’ be scared – it’s divine! And experiencing a fabulous renaissance. Shall we go for a quick jaunt?

The streets are lined with incredible turn-of-the-century architecture and Art Deco delights. Parts of it remind me of the grand buildings in Detroit (that’s no a joke!). It’s the most New York-y part of LA, to be sure. Other parts have a Barcelona vibe. It’s wonderfully unique.

It feels like you’re in another era, so you might as well dress the part! I festooned myself in my favorite new dress (LisaMichelle), added a fall-worthy cableknit bag (c/o Margaret Nicole), slid into boots made for walking (Marco Santi c/o Sole Society), added a pop of color with mustard-hued tights (American Apparel), and tossed on some large gold hoop earrings (Forever 21) and wayfarer sunnies (SEE) for my date with DTLA.

The architecture is swoon-inducing: intricately detailed and grand. And the signage and fab fonts have me over the moon. We must look into this Roaring 20s party, le stat!

All of this walking has me starving. You too? Let’s pop into WoodSpoon in the Fashion District. Their Brazilian food will have your taste buds doing somersaults in sequins!

What to order? The grilled chicken sandwich with pancetta and roasted corn with yam fries on the side. Ask for a side of their green-chile-pesto mayo, too!

Delight in the colorful chairs and decor and how you’ve once again inadvertently coordinated with your dining establishment.

Walk and shop off that amazing lunch.

Head home and take a nap. But before you do, make a date with DTLA to do it again!
