What a difference a week makes. Last weekend, the Hubs and I embarked on an exploratory apartment-hunting trip in LA and, one week later, now find ourselves with a one-year lease and a new home on our hands. And we couldn’t be happier!

We have been “home-free” for nearly a year – 11 months of traveling to be exact — and while I’ve reveled in the joys of not being encumbered by stuff, I also can’t wait until 11 days from now, when all of said stuff will be transported from its home (the glamorous Public Storage north of San Francisco) to our new home in sunshiney Beverly. Hills, that is. Swimmin pools. Movie stars. Black gold. Texas tea.

Mostly I can’t wait to shop my own closet. While it’s entirely possible to wear the same few things day after day for an entire year, it can get to be a little dull. A little repetitive. A little uninspired. Which likely explains why I’m still in my pajamas as I type. Yes, that’s the reason.

The funniest part of our new place, turrets aside, is that it looks identical to our flat in San Francisco and is exactly two blocks from where I lived nine years ago, when I first moved to LA after college. Nine years and two blocks later – not to mention six moves in between (not counting the constant moving of the past 11 months) – I’m looking forward to settling in a bit. And really looking forward to decorating (maybe I’ll invite Kelly Wearstler and Candy Spelling over for tea?). And to seeing old friends and meeting new ones. To discovering new places and inspirations, from delicious food to SoCal style. And let’s not forget the main activity of LA, Speidi-hunting. I am a card-carrying member of the NRA, after all. I jest. Really, I’ll be on the lookout for Dylan and Brenda. Like, duh. Maybe they’ll be at the Renegade Craft Fair this weekend? Will you be there?
