Let’s talk bath mats (sexy, I know). When it comes to bedding and bath linens, I prefer white everything. It makes your bedroom and bathroom feel like a high-end hotel. But the problem with a white bath mat is that it stays that way for approximately three seconds. And in our new Palm Springs casa, where our normal mode is to walk around barefoot because we’re often running back and forth between the pool and the house, it’s a recipe for disaster.

So I was thrilled to come across this clever solution…

Chilewich mats. Made from vinyl, they’re essentially indestructible (simply hose them off if they get dirty), plus they dry quickly and are mold and mildew-resistant. As practical as they are, it was the black-and-white stripes that first drew me to them. We ended up getting the large 36″ x  60″ big mat in Bold Stripe for our master bathroom which covers the area under both of our sinks, plus the area in front of the shower (before I was trying to get three regular-sized mats and it was making the room look choppy).

I love it so much, now I’m considering a few more as door mats, and maybe even as an indoor rug. Chilewich also makes runners, pet mats, shades and placemats (genius) in various colors and patterns.
