Let’s talk webshows and podcasts! Do you watch YouTube videos? Up until recently I never watched YouTube videos (unless I was in them, haha) and never really listened to podcasts. I just didn’t get the whole YouTube thing.

Confession: When I was invited to be a guest on Michelle Phan’s show a few years ago, I had no idea who she was. Cut to today and she has an $84-million empire. She’s basically the Oprah of the internet. It made me think maybe I should check into that.

Over the past few months, the switch has happened: Now I tend to watch things online more than I do on TV. So I thought I’d share a few favorites with you, in case you’re new to the YouTube/webshow/podcast scene too. Welcome to five years ago!

Top 10 Webshows & Podcasts

1. Inspiration Point with Jonathan Adler
Hello, you get to spend time with Jonathan Adler, need I say more?

2. Candidly Nicole
Nicole Richie is hysterical, whether she’s learning how to parallel park or taking a Beverly Hills 90210 bus tour. Her webshow got picked up on VH1, but I still love watching the videos online.

3. Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee
I’m a sucker for any kind of interview show, but especially ones that interview comedians. Jerry Seinfeld picks up a new comedian each week and takes him/her for a hilarious ride in a killer vintage car to get coffee. Favorite episodes have been with SJP and Sarah Silverman.

4. Mondays with Marlo
Again, I love interviews and Marlo basically just chats in her home with celebrities, ranging from Regis and Jon Hamm to Anderson Cooper and Kelly Ripa – totally my jam.

5. 73 Questions
Vogue hosts this funny series, which interviews celebrities, including SJP and Anna Wintour in their homes or offices. It’s fast, it’s quirky, it’s fun.

6. Kevin Pollack Chat Show
More interviews with comedians and celebrities. Larry David and Jon Hamm were favorites.

7. Straight Talk with Ross Mathews
My friend, the hilarious comedian Ross Mathews, just launched a new podcast called Straight Talk with Ross Mathews. Billed as Advice & LOLs from the Gay Best Friend You Wish You Had and Know You Need, I was dying laughing listening to the first episode as a laid in bed last night. As Ross says, “It’s like Dr. Laura, but more high-pitched.”

8. The Lively Show
Speaking of podcasts, I first discovered The Lively Show when my friend Joy was a guest on the show. Hosted by Jess Lively, she has candid, open discussions with well-known bloggers, business owners and online personalities, and the takeaway so far has been we all have the same fears and struggles and we’re all in this together. It’s both inspiring and enlightening (particularly if you are a blogger or entrepreneur). I’m excited to listen to the latest Lively Show with ban.do co-founder Jen Gotch.

9. WTF with Marc Maron
Frank and funny conversations with comedians and entertainers. (You can also search on YouTube and find many of his podcasts, Iike the one with Sarah Silverman. Same with Howard Stern, who I’ve always loved listening to. Recently I’ve enjoyed Sarah Silverman and Amy Poehler.)

10. Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday
I would watch Oprah watch paint dry but I particularly love her Super Soul Sunday videos.

Do you have any favorites?

Let me know in the comments so I can check them out! I’ll share more favorites as I come across them, including videos from my favorite bloggers and friends who make me laugh.

p.s. The beauty of YouTube is that you can search and watch anything online. I’ve searched “Audrey Hepburn interview” and “ Sarah Silverman interview” and pretty much watched every single thing that pops up. I also enjoy the 92 Y channel. Aziz Ansari’s interview was a favorite.
