Love The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel fashion? Me too! Last night at dinner with Kim and Andre, we were gushing over how much we loved the show The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. We agreed it was like a girlier version of Mad Men. Have you seen it? Those sets! Those costumes! I think I was inadvertently inspired by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel when I put together this look for a romp in the high desert last week. Check it out if you’d like to see how to dress like The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel!

HOW TO DRESS LIKE THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL

First things first when it comes to The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel fashion — this coat!

So many of you asked about this coat over on Instagram. It’s one of my favorite finds from The Fine Art of Design, my favorite vintage store in the world.

Not to worry, I tracked down a nearly identical 1960s vintage but new swing coat here.

If you’ve seen The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, then you know there are SO many good coats on that show.

I’d love to trade closets with Rachel Brosnahan — Andy and Kate Spade’s niece by the way — or rather her character, Mrs. Miriam Maisel (or Midge for short).

As a lover of all things Kate and Andy, when I heard the last name Brosnahan, I immediately said, “I bet she’s Kate Spade’s niece,” because I knew Brosnahan was Kate’s maiden name because I’m that obsessed, and sure enough she is.

That family is SO talented. You know Andy and Kate Spade’s other niece, right?

And while Rachel Brosnahan is playing a character, doesn’t The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel seem so on-brand for Kate Spade?

I digress…

Under the coat is where the literal sparkle happens, with this sparkly sequin Tolani dress.

I didn’t get to post all of my sparkle posts last week, so we’re continuing with #PSILOVESPARKLE for a few more days.

Hope you’re okay with that. 🙂

I also added this statement Kate Spade swan bag (sold out but available on eBay here

And some sparkly earrings

Along with a classic black suede pump.

I topped it off with some black sunnies because I didn’t want to get sequin blindness.

I’m also trying to make sleep masks for day a thing…

A look by fashion blogger Kelly Golightly inspired by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel! #kellygolightly #marvelousmrsmaisel

Clearly inspired by Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Think we can make it catch on?

I suppose only time will tell…

Are you ever inspired by TV or film to dress a certain way? Perhaps Sex and the City? Mad Men? Breakfast at Tiffany’s?

I’d love to hear! Let me know in the comments here or over on Instagram.

And if there’s a film, photo, show or style icon you’d like me to dress as, let me know and I’ll attempt to make it happen! It can be a continuation of the Style Icon Project I started years ago, where we use our favorite classic style icons, photos, and movies — Audrey Hepburn, Jackie O, Slim Aarons, Love Story — for inspiration and recreate the looks in hopes of inspiring all of you style icons out there.

I’ll show you how to get the look, in case you’d like to add some classic, timeless, glamorous style to your repertoire.
