one room challenge week four closet and shelves

I’m here! I’m here! We finally made it to Texas! Not only does that mean I’ve been able to see Kaylee’s bedroom in person myself, it means that I can show you peeks from the room! SO much progress has been made since last week — as in we have FURNITURE! See how it’s all shaping up in my Week 4 update of the One Room Challenge!

one room challenge week four with chandeliers

Walls: Clare Whipped | Baseboards, trim, crown molding by Metrie: Clare Fresh Kicks|  Ceiling Paint: Clare Flat White | Door: Valspar | Door Knob: Emtek Freestone Knob | Pink pendant light: Hudson Valley Lighting Rousseau

First things first, the paint colors turned out to be even prettier in person! I can’t get over HOW much of a difference they have made.

Remember the BEFORE PICS?

Bed: Overstock | Poof: HomePop (available here)

I LOVE the pink light! However, I want to adjust the pendant closest to the ceiling the hang a little lower.

Um, can we talk about that bed? Shopping online is what I do 95% of the time, but let’s face it, it’s always a bit of a risk. How will the fabric look and feel in person? Will the color look the same in person as it does on the screen? This blue upholstered tufted bed looks even better in person. HUGE sigh of relief!

Isn’t that pink poof by HomePop so cute? We are still waiting for the vanity to arrive and it will go where the poof is. I have two options for the vanity stool — this pink poof and a white option with skinny gold legs. Which would you go with??

We’ll have to see which looks better when everything arrives + cross my fingers that those items will arrive very soon. Since we traveled for the project + have to head back to Palm Springs this week, we needed to accelerate the already short 6-week timeline up by a week + a few days.

No, I’m not biting my nails, you’re biting your nails!

bed and day bed by the window

Ceiling fan: Lamps Plus | Gold curtain rods: Overstock | Pom-pom curtains: Overstock | Roman Shades: Select Blinds | Fairy Lights: Hayneedle | Pink bench: HomePop | Bed: Overstock | Dresser: Overstock

Here’s the bed from another angle + the beautiful new Roman shades from Select Blinds! Kaylee’s Dad + Fred Baby installed them on Sunday, along with the white pom pom curtains from Overstock and I LOVE how it turned out.

After the blush pink Roman shades went up, it looked so good. Super clean. I almost considered not adding the curtains because the shades looked so good on their own. BUT, we went ahead and hung the curtains and it looked EVEN better. Softer and more finished. They say curtains are “the eyebrows of the room” and I can see why — they really are that last finishing touch that help frame the room.

Tip: Because we hung the curtains as close to the ceiling as possible and made them go to floor, it makes the room seem taller.

Bonus: I hung a strand of twinkly fairy lights behind the curtains to add that whimsical element Kaylee seemed to be so drawn to when she pinned tween bedroom inspiration photos to her Pinterest board.

Now let’s talk about this pink bench by HomePop… I originally planned it for the end of the bed. I have a white furry chair coming from Overstock for this same corner. But I’m loving the bench in this spot, so it might just stay. Will I have room for both? TBD….

You see a slight peek of the glossy white dresser, but I can’t show you everything at once… Can I?

Bookshelf: Overstock | Art: Lamps Plus | Pineapple bookends: Lamps Plus | Room Service button: House of Golightly | Ampersand bookends: Hayneedle | Books: Amazon | Gold mirrored tray: Lamps Plus | Wallpaper: Milton & King | Gold hangers: Overstock | Roller skates: Amazon

Okay, speaking of showing you a lot, here’s more details on the bookshelf and closet area.

I’m THRILLED with how both are turning out. I want this clear acrylic ladder bookcase for myself! It has such a visually light footprint but adds a glam factor.

So far, I’ve styled up the shelves with pink art and pineapple bookends from Lamps Plus, a custom Room Service button (similar) that rings from House of Golightly, ampersand bookends from Hayneedle, a collection of pretty pastel Jane Austen books, and a gold mirrored tray from Lamps Plus.

Initially I just placed these items on the shelves because those are the accessories that arrived first, but they ended up looking good there! So, we’ll see if they stay put or if they end up in the spots I originally planned. TBD, friends, TBD….

Finally, a peek of the closet and that fabulous Poppytalk Tropicale blue palm leaf wallpaper from Milton & King!

p.s. Aren’t those gold hangers + roller skates too cute? Let’s just say investing in the design of the closet paid off. Can’t wait to show you more!

WHAT’S NEXT

Stay tuned next week to see if the rest of the items arrived in time + if so, where the art and accessories are going, if the chair or bench wins out, and so much more.

I’ll be sure to share on InstaStories, so be sure to follow along there!
