Imaginary Cocktail Party

Do you have trouble falling asleep at night? Sometimes, I can’t fall asleep right away (likely culprit: midnight servings of Nutella) and it seems a million things race through my mind. You too? Sadly, I don’t have a solution (other than nixing the midnight indulgences, but really, who wants to do that?), but I do have a question.

Last night I was pondering who I would invite to an imaginary cocktail party. I’m sure you’ve been asked this question before  “Who would you have at your dream dinner party,” but I want to know who you’d invite to your dream cocktail party?

Aside from fabulous friends and fam, here’s who’s on my guest list:

David Sedaris, Sarah Silverman, Tina Fey, Tim Gunn, Wes Anderson

Kate and Andy Spade, Guiliana Rancic, Neil Patrick Harris, Snoop Dogg, Sarah Jessica Parker

Alexis Stewart, Kelly Wearstler, Anderson Cooper, Regis and Joy Philbin, Nora Ephron

Grace Coddington, Anthony Bourdain, Matt Damon, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, Jonathan Adler

Carl Reiner, Ryan Reynolds, Jimmy Fallon

What a night it would be. Now I only need to ponder invitations, how to decorate, what to serve and, most importantly, what to wear. Better keep that Nutella by my bedside tonight…

Who’s on your dream guestlist?

Wow, what a list! And what great pictures of everyone. I have to admit, Grace Coddington scares me, though I would love to be a fly on the wall for a conversation between her, Snoopy, and Anthony Bourdain!

I notice you don’t have any “Young Hollywood.” How about Natalie Portman, Michael Cera, Leighton Meeser or Brian McKenzie?

Nice additions Kate! Does Ryan Reynolds count as young Hollywood? Lately, that flock has been ruffling my feathers, but I’m open to the idea. I imagine them off in a corner snickering at the rest of us though.

I did forget someone though… Alec Bladwin! This is becoming addictive..

Ryan Reynolds looks pretty young, yet not too young, when I saw him performing at Celebrity Biography a few months ago.

But agreed, Shatner would be a hoot at the imaginary cocktail party.

Thought about this some more. Jamie Foxx would be a good addition. I agree Shatner would be fun, and so would Chelsea Handler.

Others to consider, not sure though:
    – David Letterman – or is he just too crotchety these days?
    – Steve Jobs – What company is more hip then apple?
    – Nina Garcia – Since you already did an interview with her.
    – Ivanka Trump – She’s a jewelry designer after all.

    Will keep thinking about it.
