When Dee and I were enlisted as judges in the Thomas Lavin Runway to Room contest on Pinterest, we couldn’t wait to put on our judges’ caps, Kelly Wearstler-style.
Since the contest features beautiful fabrics from the Runway Collection for Zinc Textiles (here are the cool pillows you can win from the collection, worth $800), a lightbulb went off: We would make turbans from the fabrics — literal judges’ caps!
But we’re no turban experts. Luckily, my friend Kristen Turner of Glitter ‘N Glue fame is a turban pro. Here she shows all of us how to make a turban in three simple steps!
Here’s the DIY on how to make a turban…
1. Cut a strip of fabric that’s approximately 55 inches long by 9 inches wide (or long enough to wrap around your cabeza) and wrap around your head, starting from the back.
2. Then twist the fabric by crossing the panels over one another.
3. Finally, tuck the ends into the fabric that’s wrapped around your head.
Voila! Turbans in mere minutes. What’s great is you can use leftover scraps of fabrics, so if you want to order a yard or two of fabric to make pillows, you’ll also get a stylish turban out of it too. A glam win-win.
We mean business. So show us your Pinning style to win a fab prize!
You can check out the entire Runway Collection from Zinc Textiles here and enter the Pinterest contest to win $800 in pillows from the Runway collection here. Hurry, contest ends on Monday!
Be sure to check out Glitter ‘N Glue for more fab DIYs and Murphy Deesign to see who else popped up to make turbans with us (he may have stolen our thunder). And stay tuned as we lure Kristen back over to show us a few more ways to tie a turban…
