With my upcoming birthday, my husband has been the lucky recipient of emails that start something like, “If I don’t get this dress, my life won’t be complete,” and finish with a very direct link. I should really take a hint from Rachel Zoe and just whittle that down to an efficient “I die.” But, I’m verbose. Obviously. My husband doesn’t find these emails annoying at all. Here are a few favorites that might be popping up in his inbox any minute. I’m sure he just can’t wait.

Happy Birthday!
Here is a nibble we enjoy. It is different and pretty.
Sweet and Salty Goat Cheese with Berries
10 oz. goat cheese (a little more or less is fine)
2 Tbl. milk (if needed to soften cheese)
½ cup roasted, salted sunflower seeds
Scant 1/3 cup honey
1 Tbl. Chambord
1 pt. fresh raspberries (can substitute blackberries)
Assorted crackers or baguette slices
Place the goat cheese in a bowl and bring to room temperature. Beat with a spoon. If the cheese seems stiff, add milk (non-fat is fine) by tablespoons until easily spreadable. Place the cheese on a small platter with raised edges, or a shallow dish with sides, forming a smooth round shape about ¾ inch thick. Top the cheese with the sunflower seeds, pressing them lightly into the cheese. Mix the honey and the Chambord and drizzle this mixture over the cheese/sunflower seeds. Top with the raspberries. I cut the raspberries in half (stem to bottom) and place them, cut side down, as a decoration on the cheese/seed/honey mixture. Serve as a spread with the crackers and/or baguette slices.
