emmys best dressed zooey deschanel in reem acra and kelly osbourne in periwinkle

Did you catch the Emmy’s red carpet? Some really fun trends and jaw-dropping gowns had me in a tizzy. Here, my favorite looks and trends from the 64th Annual Emmy Awards. Who were your picks for best dressed? Weigh in below!

It’s not everyday someone can pull off lavender hair and a matching purple gown, but Kelly Osbourne’s periwinkle-meets-plum Zac Posen really worked. Wearing a head-to-toe hue is also elongating: Kelly looks tall, slim and unforgettable, plus her wine-stained pucker adds the perfect added pop. Also donning a powdery blue version of periwinkle was my best dressed pick of the night, Zooey Deschanel. Ethereal with a vintage vibe, Zooey looks like a dream in her floaty Reem Acra gown.

Black and white is classic, but January Jones’ espresso Zac Posen showstopper is anything but predictable. She wasn’t the only Mad Woman knockout of the night: the new Mrs. Don Draper, Jessica Paré, was the epitome of chic in a snowy Jason Wu column gown with a black belt and clutch, her hair styled to Old-Hollywood-glamour perfection.

emmys best dressed citron citrus clare danes, julianne moore, leslie mann, julie bowen

The color of the night is my absolute fave: citron! The citrus hue popped up on Claire Danes (in Lanvin), Julianne Moore (in Dior Couture), Leslie Mann (in Naeem Khan) and Julie Bowen (in Monique Lhuillier), as well as on Kaley Cuoco and Hannah Simone. Julianne’s and Leslie’s lemon-twist gowns were my faves and I adored how Julianne’s gorgeous ginger locks and bright lip paired with her floor-length, long-sleeved gown (can you believe she’s 51?!). She proves that redheads can really take chances with color.

A trend that had me swooning on the Emmy’s red carpet? Ladylike silhouettes that channeled Audrey Hepburn in the 1950s. Ginnifer Goodwin (in Monique Lhuillier) and Emilia Clarke both looked timeless, charming and chic in tea-length frocks.

emmys best dressed sleek, sporty and graphic, cool cut-outs edie falco, giuliana rancic

On the other end of the spectrum, sleek, sporty-cool silhouettes looked modern and fresh, as seen on the svelte Edie Falco (in Stella McCartney) and Giuliana Rancic (in Rafael Cennamo).

What do you think of these looks and trends? Weigh in on your faves and share your picks for best dressed below in the comments!
