domino magazine is back; a sneak peek at domino magazine; welcome home domino; #welcomehomedomino

Christmas has come early this year, as Domino — my favorite magazine of all time — is back. Yes, back! I know. I can hardly believe it’s real.

Domino was the most influential magazine ever — for me anyway. It spoke to the way that I wanted to live, what I aspired for my own home to look like, influenced the parties that I host, how I decorate, what I wear when I entertain.

When it folded four years ago, at the height of its popularity, it not only caused confusion, but left a very empty void. The design-loving 20- and 30-somethings of the world shed some collective tears. Rarely does a publication speak to a generation like that.

Slim Aarons once said he photographed beautiful people doing beautiful things in beautiful places. I always say something similar when describing Kelly Golightly and my mission — I love creating happy environments for happy people to create happy memories in. That’s why I love entertaining. It brings together my love of interiors and fashion in a very real, fun, happy way. And I hope it makes someone’s day brighter and inspires them to do the same.

Domino embodies that to the fullest. There’s no sterile minimalism or unrelateable brooding models or artists. Domino is all about creating a happy, warm, well-lived life and they understand the power of design on your psyche.

Can you tell I’m over the moon?

The new Domino looks a lot like the old Domino (thank goodness) but they’ve added fully shoppable content to their website. Michelle Adams, who founded the online design magazine Lonny, is Domino’s new editor in chief, and I’m thrilled to see where she takes it. For now, Domino will operate as a quarterly magazine, but I’m hoping for a bimonthly or monthly publication in the near future.

I love it so much that after happy hour last night, where Gray Malin and I couldn’t contain our mutual excitement (hence the margaritas), my next stop was Whole Foods to see if it hit the shelves early. There was one copy and you better believe I snatched it up in two seconds flat.

If you love style as much as I do, I highly encourage you to subscribe and check out the website here.

Welcome home Domino!
