The Coolest Outdoor Chairs

cooloutdoorchairs

One of the most surprising things about owning a home has been how hard it is to find cute outdoor furniture (and how expensive outdoor furniture is — ay caramba!). So when I spotted these colorblocked basket chairs I was over the moon. They remind me of the fab Acapulco chairs I loved at The Thunderbird in Marfa, but with even more amazing color palettes.

Which would you pick: White or pink? (Green and blue also available.)

You can shop them all here.

Who I’m Most Excited to Meet at LEGENDS

kelly-wearstler legends lcdq; kelly golightly

It’s LEGENDS week! And while I can’t wait to check out the windows and hobnob with design’s finest at the storied power lunches and galas, here is what I’m most excited about at LEGENDS.

Meeting Kelly Wearstler

I’ve had a major style crush on Kelly Wearstler ever since first being introduced to her on Bravo’s Top Design. After that, I fell down the Hollywood Regency rabbit hole by gobbling up all of her books, shopping her fashion line, staying at the hotels she designed: The Viceroy Palm Springs (our fave magical little spot in Palm Springs); The Avalon (our home away from home when we used to visit LA before we lived in LA). In fact, Kelly Wearstler is probably to credit for my love of Palm Springs and what led us to buying our dream house here. Not only is Kelly Wearstler beautiful, forward-thinking and bold, she’s a wife, a mom and the world’s coolest designer. She’s also from South Carolina, where I lived for four years, so I’m really interested in how she went from small town girl to the design world’s It girl.

Meeting Dara Caponigro (again)

I first had the pleasure of meeting Veranda magazine’s editor-in-chief Dara Caponigro at the House of Windsor. I was honored to get a personal tour from Dara herself of the stunning show house designed by Windsor Smith (that Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin have since purchased). It was a pinch-me moment and day, as I got to hang with my favorite Million Dollar Decorator, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, too (remember our prom pose?), and Windsor Smith told me that the article I wrote about her for Rue Magazine (page 166) was her favorite article ever written about her (stick a fork in me, I’m done!). But back to Dara… Dara Caponigro was one of the visionaries and founding editors behind Domino magazine, which remains until this day my favorite magazine of all time. And she’s done amazing things at Veranda too. She’s an inspiration and a living legend, so I can’t wait to celebrate LEGENDS at the Finale Party hosted by Dara Caponigro.

Meeting Domaine Founder Mat Sanders

Are you as excited about the launch of Domaine as I am? As a huge fan of Who What Wear, I’m thrilled that they have just launched the home decor sister site Domaine. Editorial Director Mat Sanders will be giving a talk, along with Ronda Carman and Martyn Lawrence Bullard (daaahling!), and I’m excited to hear more about the vision behind and for Domaine going forward. You can sign up for the Domaine event here.

Meeting YOU

As an official ambassador of LEGENDS, I’m looking forward to meeting all of you design lovers at the blogger breakfast on Thursday morning. Please come say hi and share a croissant!

As a design enthusiast, I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve been named an official ambassador for the LEGENDS of La Cienega, one of the most celebrated design events in the country.

The three-day celebration of design, taking place May 8-10th at the La Cienega Design Quarter in Los Angeles, brings together editors, enthusiasts, influencers and tastemakers from the worlds of interior design, decor, fashion and architecture for exhibitions, panels, parties and more. Thom Filicia, Mary McDonald, Dara Caponigro and Kelly Wearstler are just a few of the huge talents involved, and a sampling of this year’s sponsors include Elle Decor, House Beautiful, Luxe Interiors + Design, Traditional Home and Veranda, alongside 1stdibs and One Kings Lane — in other words, maje! I’m excited to be sharing design scoop and content from LEGENDS here with you.

If you love design as much as I do, head on over to the La Cienega Design Quarter website for more info and tickets to LEGENDS. Plus, check out my interview where I share what I’m most excited about seeing at LEGENDS this year. Hope to see you there!

Holy chic! Did you know Jonathan Adler has a collection for JCP? {A huge thank you to Annette for the heads-up!} Called Happy Chic by Jonathan Adler, naturally, it’s the same Jonathan Adler style we know and love but for a mere fraction of the price of his signature JA collection. It’s a birthday eve miracle. I just can’t believe we didn’t know about this earlier, as it’s the type of news that would normally sweep Bloglandia.

Rose Golden Girl

I’d never paid much attention to flatware until we moved into Casa Palm Springs and we didn’t have any. We’ve spent the last months wrestling with flimsy flatware from the supermarket and now it’s time to finally upgrade. Most silverware is either uninspired, too fussy, or overpriced. And then I met these rose golden girls…

Meet My Cocktail Table Crush

jonathan-adler-nixon-cocktail-table

I’ve got interior design on the brain in a major way. Once you start, you just can’t stop. Know what I mean? And we’ve finally got momentum! Thanks to your input on Instagram yesterday, we ended up ordering the Brixton Credenza from Room Service. We’re so excited to be the proud parents of this baby in 6-8 weeks. Now that that’s settled, we’re in cocktail table mode. Or coffee table, if you prefer. I don’t because I don’t drink coffee (besides if I did, it would be in bed, not in the living room… I am a lady after all!). But, I do enjoy a good cocktail from time to time. Mmmm, cocktails… Oh right, where were we?

Oh yes, let’s talk cocktail tables, shall we?

The Credenza Diaries

Happy Monday, my lovelies! Did you have a nice weekend? In between NyQuil naps, we did some vintage furniture shopping in Palm Springs and added yet another bar cart to our growing collection (how could I resist?). But, one piece we haven’t yet tracked down is a credenza. Well, that’s not exactly true…

Behold, The Credenza Diaries…

Hat Wall

hat wall

After five weeks, we’re finally past the unpacking phase of moving in and drifting into fun territory: decorating! Our bedroom wall was looking rather drab, and while we have plenty of art in storage that could have spruced up the wall above our headboard, after having what’s felt like 100 earthquakes in the span of 48 hours, I wasn’t exactly keen on hanging something that could topple over on us in the middle of the night. At the same time, my ever-growing hat collection was presenting a challenge of its own: how and where to store said hats. I decided to kill two birds with one stone and here are the results…

Behold, my hat wall!
