Last week, I had the pleasure of attending a lunch at my favorite LA restaurant, Cecconi’s, in honor of Black Halo’s 10-year anniversary. Here’a a peek at the scene, what I wore and how I fashioned a quick five-second DIY fashion fix as I was running out the door to meet Black Halo’s designer Laurel Berman and this bevy of beauties…
The patio at Cecconi’s is the loveliest way to spend a sunny afternoon in LA. Getting to toast Black Halo’s 10-year anniversary — and being dressed by Black Halo — made it a Cinderella moment.

If you’re not familiar, Black Halo dresses make you feel like a woman with a capital vavavavoom, yet tow the line between sexy and ladylike perfectly. Just check out this group of top LA bloggers and tastemakers, along with Black Halo designer Laurel Berman and Shameless star Shanola Hampton – hotty boombalotties in a very ladylike way…all wearing Black Halo.
I adored my hot pink peplum dress and felt sexier than ever, however we all know I’m more Audrey than Marilyn, and as such am more comfortable covering up my boomba and my lottie! Translation: My top was a little too revealing because there’s quite little to reveal (sniff, sniff). Have you ever had that happen? Where the top is just a little too big or too plunging? Happens to me all the time.
I’ve dished about Fashion Fixes before, but no Bosom Button would do in this case…And I didn’t want to muck with the design of the dress by attempting to top off my look with a jacket…The dress was too pretty to be covered up.
And then I remembered my favorite statement necklace (yes, the one everyone thinks is vintage or an heirloom or that I must have picked up on some exotic vacation, but is really from here). It would be perfect to cover up the area that I wanted to cover, except…it wasn’t quite long enough.
Luckily, I had my gift-wrapping supplies out since it was a friend’s birthday and soon, a simple strand of twine would be be BFF.
I simply tied and knotted twine around both ends of my necklace to make a longer chain (which you can barely tell in this photo). Even though my hair was tied back, no one noticed (though I enjoyed pointing it out — I can’t help myself!) and I received lots of lovely compliments on how I accessorized the dress with the statement necklace.
So, if you’re ever in a jam: twine is divine!
Thank you to Black Halo for having me and here’s to the next 10+ years!
Here is what I wore:
Black Halo dress c/o (also available here, here & here & in black here)
Sole Society shoes c/o
LOFT necklace
Kate Spade clutch (old but similar here)
