My dearest Golightlies, I hope you had a great Fourth! I’m still in Texas (today we’re celebrating my little Buggy’s 7th birthday — I’m making a piñata cake!) but before we left LA I made a field trip to the Beckley boutique on West Third Street, where I finally got to play dress up with this Beckley by Melissa beetle-print dress (remember how I swooned over it here?).

Here I take it for a twirl in West Hollywood…

While it’s certainly a perfect dress for a ladies lunch, it’s actually much more versatile: It would work great for a daytime wedding, a baby or bridal shower, a fun and flirty birthday dress or even to wear to an art gallery opening or to the office. Or wear it to your own press conference like my friend Olesya did!

I’m obsessed with the color palette and print (neon beetles get two thumbs up from this girl!). And I love the juxtaposition of the ladylike silhouette with the more downtown beetle print. What do you think? Would you take it for a twirl?

You can try it on in person at the Beckley boutique (the store is a new favorite, as they carry a perfectly edited selection of really cool designers and brands like 3.1 Phillip Lim, Opening Ceremony and their own private label Beckley by Melissa, plus the shop is bright and cheery with super-friendly but not pushy salespeople — a winning combination in my book, plus you can visit these guys) or shop online here.

What I’m Wearing:

Beckley by Melissa box pleat dress (borrowed) available here and here

Margaret Nicole clutch (old)

Kelly Wearstler cuff (no longer available)

Cynthia Rowley scarab ring (old but similar here and here)

Rossmore LA heart ring a c/o

Vintage gold cuff

Shoemint shoes (old)
