No Paparazzi Please!

It’s the last day of summer! Can you believe it? I’m THRILLED! Here’s why + I’d love to know if you could spend summer anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I’m thrilled it’s the last day of summer because in Palm Springs, fall is our summer. Summer is more like winter in that we’ve had to hibernate inside the last few months because it’s been TOO HOT to go outside. Yes, even in the pool. Don’t get me wrong, if you’re coming to visit for a week, Palm Springs in the summer is amazing. It’s normally empty and the heat puts you in a totally blissed out state.

But you know what they say about too much of a good thing, right? If you spend months straight in the Palm Springs heat, you feel like dying. Especially if you have a delicate system like me. But even Fred Baby goes majorly stir crazy because he wants to be able to go outside and bike, etc.

So we’ve decided that next year we will definitely be going away for the summer. That’s what many locals do — go somewhere cooler to escape the heat whether it’s to Canada or Aspen or the beaches of SoCal.

Which begs the question: Where?

If you could spend summer anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Do you have a favorite place that you like to summer? Or a place you’ve always dreamed of spending the summer?

Nantucket is somewhere I’ve never been but would love to go. I blame/credit Mackenzie for that.

Or maybe Maine?

Rhode Island?

Clearly a pattern is emerging — a New Englandy summer.

While I’ve dreamed of spending an entire summer in the South of France — and Jamie Beck has fueled that fire — right now something stateside is tugging at me.

I like places that have a true spirit of place (not to be confused with spirit place). Places that feel uniquely their own. That feel somewhat removed. That aren’t sceney. The Hamptons are appealing — we could hang with Jeffrey and Ina — but likely more in the fall, when it’s not crowded.

We’ve always been chasing the sun, and while we still want sun, it’s crazy heat we’re avoiding.

If you could spend next summer anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
